Faith and Works

vinecrossLet us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

1 John 3:18 NKJV

We are saved by faith and grace alone, but saving faith transforms us into doers of the word, not just hearers only (James 1:22) – Just believing in Jesus Christ as our Saviour and admitting our sins is not enough; we need to actively repent – change our sinful nature, turn away from sin and temptation – to show our new self.

To receive forgiveness for our sins, we also need to be able to forgive others; forgiveness is an act of mercy, love and grace, it is a decision to not hold on to something hurtful done to us. We all need forgiveness for our sins.

If we did something wrong, but we regret it and truly repent – change our sinful way and actively seek restoration and restitution to the person we wronged – God will forgive us.

Just being sorry and asking God for forgiveness is – again –  not good enough; we need to be doers of the word and ask the persons we wronged for forgiveness and correct our misdeed and restore them as good as we can.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16  NKJV
