Q – Self Defence

SELF DEFENCE/FIGHT0041-0503-1513-5531

Create in me a clean heart, O God.

Psalm 51:10 NKJV

The simple truth is that the outcome of most conflicts is determined by size and strength. In a head-on-conflict, the larger, stronger and more physically fit participant usually wins the fight.

They charge head-on, and the physics granted by their superior mass grants them victory — especially against smaller and inexperienced opponents. So, although the race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, but that’s the way to bet.

So again, is there another way out ?  Can you resolve this situation any other way without violence or the threat of violence? Can you back down, run, plead ?

What makes you survive is awareness and avoidance; if confronted calmness under pressure and de escalation skills;  if you cannot run or avoid anymore and you have to defend yourself to survive, an immediate surprise attack targeting vulnerable areas on your attacker until the threat is neutralized and you can run gives you the best  chance to survive.

Again, don’t panic and freeze, start yelling and make lots of noise, recognize and utilize escape opportunities, strike first and hard, never give up and do whatever it takes to get away/survive. Even if you can’t remember anything anymore about self defence techniques; behave like a cat in a cardboard box, go crazy, scream, scratch, bite, gouge; few criminals want to have to deal with somebody out of control.

There are no rules and there is no honours with criminals – so don’t expect fair play or play fair.

It is not about a prolonged fight, confrontations in real life usually last only a few seconds and the one who gets to hit first usually wins.

At the end, nobody can tell you what to do in such a dramatic situation. The choice of action or inaction is yours alone. We can only try to make you aware and alert, we can’t be there with you, except in our prayers for your safety and comfort.

Remember, victory is a fight avoided! Jesus Himself, whenever He was prosecuted, threatened, in danger, always avoided any conflict. He was always alert and aware, He ran, hid, evaded – He travelled always in groups, stayed with friends and family.

We hope and pray that you and your family and friends will be safe and comfortable. May God Bless You!

Jesus said: “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ love those who love them. 33And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ do that…

Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38Give, and it will be given to you…

Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?…

No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. 44Each tree is recognized by its own fruit.” Luke 6:32 ff  NIV
